Philadelphia is a historic city to Americans. It is also a historic city to many Korean-Americans. Here, Dr. Philip Jaisohn lived and died: He was the first Korean-American who acquired an American citizenship and the first Korean-American medical doctor. He also devoted his life to the cause of Korea’s independence, democratization, modernization and unification. Inheriting his dreams, we have established this foundation to provide our Korean-American community with medical services, social services, educational and scholarship programs. We have been continuously serving them for the last 37 years. At the beginning, we devoted our time primarily to helping the Korean-Americans in their efforts to settle in this country. Now we rather concentrate our efforts on helping our descendants not only to actively participate in this society and work with confidence but also to make positive contributions to American society. Dr. Jaisohn’s will, spirit and integrity motivates all of us. We look forward to your encouragement and advice. Board Chairman Henry Sungkyu Oh, M.D.

37 years ago, we started providing medical services for the Korean-American immigrant community. Now we are also providing a wide variety of educational and scholarship programs and extensive social services. Behind this successful expansion lie two factors: One is that all those involved in our operations have dedicated themselves to their work and the other is that we have been able to enjoy a special cooperative relationship with our community. Having cherished the ideal and spirit of Dr. Philip Jaisohn, we will continue to provide our community with services that are demanded by the new generations. We will develop and launch new challenging programs for the 2nd generation of Korean-Americans. These programs will help them to work and live in America with confidence and pride. In addition, for the elderly who still have language and cultural problems, we will serve them with a multitude of health and hygiene educational programs and health insurance programs. To those who are sick, physically and mentally, we will also provide them with home health care and counseling programs. We look forward to your continuous support and advice.
President Peter H. Choi
